Dave has been involved with sports at a high level for his entire life. Starting with Indoor Track, Outdoor Track and Cross Country in High School.

His early career started in the Navy where he studied nuclear engineering then continued his education earning two more Engineering Degrees at Virginia Tech.  He has a love of Data Science and Information Technology that helps him in his Coaching career to help program athletes.

After a break in endurance sports, he earned multiple Black Belts in several martial arts disciplines. His love of instruction and competition continued to blossom in this area.

When he was diagnosed with Adult onset Type 1 diabetes, he dove back into endurance sports to help cope with his life altering condition. He didn’t just dip his toes in, he went straight into the deep end of Ironman, competing in multiple 140.6 and 70.3 races over the years.

Today he specializes in both long and standard distance aquabike as a member of TeamUSA which allows his body the time to compete and recover while managing T1D.

In 2016 Dave started RogueTri in an effort to empower and develop athletes into the best versions of themselves through his unique data-driven coaching methods. Dave currently holds certifications as a USAT L2, ASCA L2 and USA Cycling L3 Coaching.

Andrea Hohler

Finally after having kids Andrea found her way to running and eventually triathlon. Over the years, Andrea has spent years teaching and coaching swim as early as 16.

Under Dave’s mentorship, Andrea has refined her swim coaching and added Triathlon coaching to her resume. She currently holds USAT L1 and ASCA L1 coaching certificates.
